LitCam Konferenzen
Die LitCam startete 2006 als Literacy Campaign mit einer internationalen Konferenz auf der Frankfurer Buchmesse. Eines der Hauptanliegen der LitCam war zu dieser Zeit die Förderung des internationalen Austausches. Bis 2015 bildeten die jährlichen LitCam Konferenzen die Basis der Netzwerkaktivitäten.
Oktober 2015: Die LitCam organisierte auf der Frankfurter Buchmesse den International LitCam Education Summit zum Thema "Digital age teaching and learning - the role of national education systems".

Oktober 2014: Die 9. Internationale LitCam Konferenz fand in diesem Jahr in geändertem Format als International Summit zum Thema „Challenges in education and culture policy" statt.

August 2013: Die regionale LitCam Konferenz in Helsinki fand am 16. August 2013 statt. Sie widmete sich dem Thema „Literacy and Media: Innovative Ways of Teaching Media Literacy". Finnische und deutsche Bildungsexperten diskutierten über innovative Möglichkeiten, Medienkompetenz zu vermitteln.
Oktober 2012: Auch im Jahr 2012 fand die internationale LitCam Konferenz im Vorfeld der Frankfurter Buchmesse statt. Den Teilnehmern boten sich anregende Diskussionen und interessante Vorträge zum Thema „Literacy and Active Citizenship".

Digital age teaching and learning - the role of national education systems
International exchange on the topic of education has become the key for developing our societies in a globalized and digitized world. That was the reason for LitCam to host an Interational Education Summit at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2015.
Surveys show the correlation between the quality of educational schooling systems and economic growth. Therefore education ministries are forced to constantly monitor how this is done internationally and what they can adopt in order to improve their own systems.
The basic skills for successful students today are not only reading, writing and arithmetic, but also digital literacy skills and 21st century non-cognitive skills. We can witness changes in student’s learning styles as well as in teaching strategies. But there is little point in investing in pedagogies and technologies to foster 21st century skills, when the basics of numeracy and literacy are insufficient. How can national education systems in different countries face these challenges?
After his inspiring keynote on "Challenges of the national education systems in the global and digital age" by the president of Didacta and Worlddidac, Prof. Dr. Wassilios E. Fthenakis the Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General for Education and Culture (DG EAC) Jens Nymand Christensen will presented how Europe faces the increased demand for education. For example, the European Commission launched the Opening up Education initiative in September 2013.Through the Opening up Education initiative, education institutions are provided an opportunity to analyse their organisational models and see whether changes are needed to transform the challenges into opportunities.
A moderated round table with Prof. Dr. Wassilios E. Fthenakis and Jens Nymand Christensen summed up the findings of the conference.
